Weird Blinking Lights (WBL) was formed in Santa Cruz, CA in 1991 as a collective performing lighting and multimedia at raves and other music centric alternative events. WBL began performing music at rave ambient rooms, parties, art galleries, corporate events, and college radio stations in 1992. The instruments were mostly vintage analog and select digital synthesizers and sequencers as well as self written software. The original incarnation of WBL ended at the end of 1994 when the original underground rave and electronic music scene of San Francisco ended. WBL's mission modified over the years to address the resurrection of modular analog synthesizers and reissue of vintage analog modules and desktop devices such as drum machines.

WBL's mission: to explore strange, new sounds; to seek out new modules and new synthesizers; to boldly create sounds that have never been created before- continues based in the New York metro area, Santa Cruz, CA, and San Francisco, CA.
